My favorite part of Phantom of the Opera (movie)?
The part where Raoul is like “I fought so hard to free you”
I’m always like….
“Really? Like….really? Cause what I saw was you falling into a trap door, barely escaping death in a booby trap filled with water, finding the Phantom’s lair and then IMMEDIATELY getting tied up. Could have tried a LITTLE harder in my opinion.”
He jumped down into the Phantom’s Hall of Mirrors trap when the man took Christine’s engagement ring.
He slept outside Christine’s door 24/7 after that.
He chased Christine all the way to the graveyard when she left.
He engaged in a sword fight with the Phantom.
He let the Phantom go just because Christine asked him to, even though it meant letting go a guy who was trying to lure Christine into her father’s crypt by pretending to be the spirit of her dead father.
He formed a plan to shoot down the Phantom just to keep Christine safe. (And no, he could not leave the country with her; the Phantom has just shown that he will follow them anywhere and everywhere - “He will haunt us til we’re dead…”)
He ran all the way down into the cellars without hesitation when that plan went awry.
When caught, he begged Christine to let him die so that she could be free of the Phantom.
Sounds like he was trying pretty hard to me.
Jeez, all he did was make a plan to free the opera of a terror, chase down a madman and risk his life for the person he loved. He could have put in a LITTLE more effort. </sarcasm>
For the record I just don’t like Raoul lol. And I was discussing that specific part, not the entire film. Yes he fought hard during the entire process. It’s just whenever we get to that part when I’m watching with my friends we always find it funny.
